Both these ideas were taken from the bible. The terrible beast described in the book of Daniel the prophet and the beast out of the sea described in the book of revelation. The beast out of the sea was project three for a group I'm part of called Quickdraw Collective, some pretty neat stuff has been coming out of there, check it out.
